The Story Behind Martian Baseball League
Ever wonder what it would be like to play baseball on Mars? That question inspired my new middle-grade novel, Martian Baseball League — a STEM-driven sci-fi adventure that mixes the wonder of space with the thrill of America’s pastime.
Set in 2133, the story follows 12-year-old Nolan Hubble, a Little League star from Earth invited to play in the Solar Series Championship — the first-ever baseball matchup between kids from Earth and Martian colonists. But on Mars, nothing about baseball is the same. Curveballs don’t curve, home runs can soar over 600 feet, and even breathing takes strategy.
As a lifelong baseball fan (Go Yankees!), I’ve always loved the rhythm and challenge of the game. I’m also endlessly fascinated by outer space — I’ve devoured every space documentary I could find, which made me wonder what sports might look like beyond Earth.
Writers like Andy Weir (The Martian, Project Hail Mary), movies like Interstellar, and science communicators like Neil deGrasse Tyson inspired me to blend science, imagination, and storytelling into something fun and educational for young readers.
If your child loves sports, space adventures, or STEM-inspired fiction, they’ll love Martian Baseball League. It’s perfect for readers ages 8–13, teachers looking for science-literacy tie-ins, or anyone who believes curiosity is the real superpower.
Martian Baseball League is available now on Amazon in paperback, hardcover, and Kindle formats.
